The mission of the department is to train highly qualified autonomous learners who are able to manage their own learning, and can therefore utilize the knowledge of science, particularly archaeology. Another mission of the department is to produce academic work and conduct researches for the benefit of society and humanity.
In line with the university’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan, the vision of the department is to be a nationally and an internationally leading department in the field of archeology of which students and staff would take a pride in being a member within the next ten years. Another vision of the department is to train staff who will contribute to development of modern archaeology and use scientific knowledge for the benefit of society and humanity. Finally, in this context, the department intends to be a model for flourishing archaeology departments as well as becoming a source for qualified research and teaching staff.
